CALIFORNIAN PIONEERS WERE THE FIRST TO WEAR BLUE JEANS.
They went looking for gold. They found denim. Californian pioneers were the first to wear blue jeans. Digging all day long under harsh conditions, up to their knees in water, they needed clothing that was comfortable and hardwearing.
THEY WERE AN IMMEDIATE SUCCESS.
Their wish was granted on 20 May 1873, when Levi Strauss, a German textile merchant, and Jacob Davies, a tailor from Reno, Nevada, patented a pair of trousers designed to resist. “Waist overalls”, as they were called, were made of denim and strengthened by copper rivets placed at the stress points. They were an immediate success.IN THE 1950S JEANS WERE TURNED INTO A LASTING FASHION ICON
In the 1950s jeans were turned into a lasting fashion icon by Hollywood stars including James Dean and Marilyn Monroe, who wore them on and off set. Not only did they look good. Everyone owned a pair. Yet until the 1980s, no one imagined jeans would come to replace the leathers worn by motorcyclists for protection. No one, that is, except Renato Dalla Grana. In 1988, the founder of SPIDI invented SPIDI DENIM JEANS. The first technical jean designed specifically for motorcycle riders changed the motorsport lifestyle forever.Had we not been motorcyclists, what would we have invented?

IN 1977, WE DESIGNED THE FIRST MOTORBIKE GLOVE
In 1977, we designed the first motorbike glove in our workshop, entrusting its production to local master leather craftsmen. Soon all of the world’s top riders were wearing a pair. Since then, we’ve kept improving our gloves’ performance through constant experimentation and research on the track.IN 1988, WE INVENTED THE MOTORBIKE JEAN
In 1988, we invented the motorbike jean, bringing together the functionality of casual wear with the safety of the technical materials developed in our research labs. With the first model, featuring Keramide protectors at the hips and the knees, we marked another turning point in the world of motorbiking.IN 1999, WE LAUNCHED THE FIRST MOTORBIKE JACKET WITH INTEGRATED AIRBAG.
In 1999, we launched the first motorbike jacket with integrated airbag. The DPS Airbag System, developed in our Safety Lab, protects the wearer’s back, hips, chest and neck against impact. It is activated in case of a fall, delivering extra safety to those who are not afraid to challenge the road.Motorbiking is a tough world. We’ve made if softer. And better looking.

As well as a great fit, they deliver outstanding performance, protecting the wearer in case of need. We’ve improved our latest styles to meet the new A and AA CE standards for protective garments, meaning they offer levels of abrasion resistance comparable to racing gear. Our eye for detail and exceptional design are SPIDI’s trademarks. We build our jeans to stretch 180° at the cross point so that they offer maximum ease of movement and use double strengthened seams to improve their resistance. We search for the best suppliers and manufacturers in the denim supply chain to source our fabrics, washes, treatments, and accessories, to achieve uncompromising quality. We work constantly to test and improve our jeans to elevate the community’s riding experience.The first ever motorcycle jeans
SPIDI’s first denim range features removable Warrior Lite protectors at the hips and at the knees. Keramide, an aramid-based fibre, acts like armour, absorbing and reducing the transfer of heat generated by friction with the tarmac when sliding on the ground after a fall. Simple yet effective, Keramide is the first step in our never-ending quest for riders’ protection.
Extra comfort on the road
Cordura® Denim is a hardwearing fabric blending cotton (80%) and Cordura® (20%), a nylon fibre that resists heat, abrasion and tear. Though it looks and feels like denim, it offers greater robustness and is at least four times more durable than 100% cotton denim. The fabric is stretch for extra comfort and has a long-lasting colour performance.
